MHEC Physicochemical Properties

1. Appearance: white or off-white powder, odorless and tasteless.

2. Particle size: The passing rate of 100 mesh is greater than 98.5%; the passing rate of 80 mesh is 100%.

3. Apparent density: 0.30-0.60g/cm3.

4. PH stability: The viscosity of the product aqueous solution is almost not affected by acid or alkali, and is relatively stable within the pH range of 2 to 12.

5. Solubility: Soluble in water and some organic solvents. Can be dissolved in cold water. The solubility changes with the viscosity. The lower the viscosity, the greater the solubility. MHEC obtained after surface treatment disperses in cold water without coagulation and dissolves slowly, but it can be quickly dissolved by adjusting its pH value to 8-10.

MHEC has the properties of thickening, suspension, dispersion, adhesion, emulsification, film formation, and water retention. Its water retention is stronger than methylcellulose, and its viscosity stability, mildew resistance, and dispersibility are stronger than hydroxyethylcellulose.

Main Usage

1. Used in water-based latex coatings: MHEC, as a protective colloid, can be used in vinyl acetate emulsion polymerization to improve the stability of the polymerization system in a wide pH range. It can evenly disperse pigments, fillers, etc. in the manufacturing of finished products, stabilize and provide thickening effect.

2. Cement-based plastering slurry: It has good thixotropy and easy mixing, making the mortar pumpable. At the same time, it improves the anti-sag ability and high water retention, prolongs the working time of the mortar and helps the mortar to develop high mechanical strength during the solidification period.

3. Gypsum plaster and gypsum products: As an adhesive, it has thixotropic and retarding properties, which can improve the spreadability and extend the operability time. It has water retention properties so that the slurry will not crack due to drying too quickly after application and enhances the strength after hardening.

4. Masonry mortar: Enhances adhesion to the masonry surface and enhances water retention, thereby improving the strength of the mortar. Improve lubricity and plasticity to improve construction performance

5. Plate caulking material: It has excellent water retention, lubricity, high shrinkage resistance and crack resistance, providing the material with a smooth and uniform texture, making the joint surface more adhesive.

6. Self-leveling floor materials: Enhance fluidity and pumpability, thereby improving the efficiency of floor paving, and control water retention, thus greatly reducing cracking and shrinkage.

7. Extruded concrete panels: Enhance the processability of extruded products and have high bonding strength and lubricity. Improves wet strength and sheet adhesion after extrusion.

8. When used in water-based inks, MHEC can quickly dry the ink and prevent it from penetrating.

9. MHEC is also widely used in textile printing and dyeing, papermaking, daily chemicals, etc.


Dissolution   Method

Take 1/3 or 2/3 of the required amount of hot water and heat it to boiling, add MHEC to obtain a hot water slurry, then add the remaining amount of cold water, keep stirring, and cool the resulting mixture.

Dry-mixed use: Because MHEC has excellent compatibility, it can be easily dry-mixed with cement, gypsum powder, pigments, fillers, etc., and achieve the desired results.
