How to choose tile adhesive? Dezny reminds you that you need to remember these professional knowledge!

I believe that many consumers often hear professional terms such as C1, C2, S1, S2, C2ETS1, etc. when purchasing ceramic tile adhesive products. Many people are not even sure what these letters and numbers mean. Let’s find out together!

1. What is the difference between tile adhesive C1 and C2?

①C1 is an ordinary type. The tensile bonding strength of tile adhesive that implements the C1 standard must be ≥0.5MPa.

②C2 is an enhanced type with stronger bonding force than the tile adhesive that implements the C1 standard, while the tensile bonding strength of the tile adhesive that implements the C2 standard needs to be ≥1.0MPa.

③According to the standards of cement-based ceramic tile adhesives, the bonding strength of C1 grade original strength, strength after immersion, heat aging resistance and freeze-thaw cycle must reach 0.5 MPa; the bonding strength C2 grade original strength, strength after immersion, heat resistance Aging and freeze-thaw cycles must reach 1.0 MPa.

④ Generally, C1 grade tile adhesive is only suitable for the pasting of small-sized indoor tiles, while C2 grade is suitable for the pasting of indoor and outdoor vitrified tiles and large bricks.

2. What are the main performance indicators of ceramic tile adhesive?

①T refers to slip resistance

Because ceramic tiles (especially thin plates, rock slabs, and large bricks) have a heavy weight and will slide down after being attached, it is particularly important for the tile adhesive to have anti-slip properties.

②E refers to extending the drying time

Under standard circumstances, if the ceramic tile glue is left to dry on the base surface for ≥20 minutes before laying the ceramic tiles, the tensile bonding strength can still reach above the specified standard.

③S refers to flexibility

"S1" is flexible and "S2" is highly flexible. The deformation ability of S1 is 2.5mm~5mm; the deformation ability of S2 is ≥5mm.

Flexibility can act between the tiles and the base layer, effectively resisting the damage to the tile paving system caused by the different deformations of the base material, tiles, and tile adhesive itself. This type of tile adhesive is suitable for areas with large deformations such as kitchen flues, balconies, elevator rooms, and floor heating. It is also suitable for paving oversized sheets.

3. How to choose tile adhesive?

According to the difference in performance standards of ceramic tile adhesives, it is recommended that the nature, characteristics, and size of the facing materials should be considered in actual applications to select products with corresponding performance. At the same time, the specific application environment should also be considered to determine the matching product.
